Coloring Mandalas is like a therapeutic meditation for me sometimes. These two were done just after the 4th of July this summer. The designs were created using Mandala Maker (back in 2010 when I knew how to use the program! I have to re-learn to be able to make new ones.)
I’m not really sure how I got into coloring mandalas, I think it was because my daughter got a really cool mandala coloring book for her birthday one year and it looked like so much fun I bought one for myself.
Coloring the mandalas turned out to be very therapeutic… almost like a meditation. So, I went wild… not only coloring the mandalas in the coloring book, but also downloading coloring pages from other online sources. Then, I got bored with what was available online and decided it would be fun to create my own.
I found some software called Mandala Maker. It was developed a while ago and is a little buggy on newer systems (like Windows 7), but it does work. It’s got a bit of a learning curve for creating a really complex mandalas, but it’s a whole lot of fun once you get going. You can create them with color in them, or like I do, in Black and White to be colored with pens, pencils, paint, etc.
